Towering walls and iron bars on the windows
The armored gates are open wide
Step by step I'm moving closer to the answers
What secret lies beyond the veil?

I've been wandering in this prison
where all the guards are left in chains
And there's a shadow in the distance watching me
a face with piercing strong-willed eyes

His eyes staring right into my soul
so deep, rich with expectations and with hope

My heartbeat hammering, electrified with awe
the last piece is in place, the puzzle now is solved
as if a thought was born into my mind anew
but terror seized me in his claws, I had to run away

but now I know the way...

I returned to familiar places and felt
like nothing ever happened
My mind was trying to erase and conform
but I said to myself: Open up your eyes

And see

The shadow welcomed me, with ever glaring eyes
a chain laid in his palms, extended to my reach
he said "this is your life, unless you choose to fight"
and then he vanished in the dark and led me to the door

From the depths of human history
Men in shackles struggling to break free
as the types of slavery differ and evolve
material mental and imaginary
